Delving into Our Chapter's Commitment to Bigger & Better Business:

Bigger and Better Business emerged as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity's inaugural national program.

This initiative was formally presented at the Tenth Anniversary Conclave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in December 1924.

Upon its national adoption, Bigger and Better Business was dedicated to the empowerment of Black-owned enterprises. It aimed to foster enhanced business savvy, efficacy, and public service within these enterprises, equipping them to compete successfully in the broader marketplace.

A Message from Our Director of Bigger & Better Business

Welcome to the Nu Beta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

As Director of Bigger and Better Business, I am proud to support and advance one of our fraternity’s core priorities: strengthening economic opportunity and business leadership within the communities we serve.

While recent data shows that Black-owned businesses are growing in number and revenue, contributing billions to the economy, they still represent only a small fraction of total U.S. business revenue. This reality highlights both meaningful progress and a significant opportunity for growth. Our chapter views this moment as a mandate: we aren't just here to celebrate entrepreneurship; we are here to actively cultivate it.

Through the Bigger and Better Business initiative, Nu Beta Sigma works to:

Promote entrepreneurship and business ownership.
Support and highlight Black-owned and community-based businesses.
Encourage financial literacy and economic mobility.
Build strategic partnerships with business leaders and organizations.
Create pathways for mentorship, contracting, and collaboration.

We believe that business development is community development. When businesses grow, families stabilize, neighborhoods strengthen, and future leaders are born.

We invite business owners, professionals, and community partners to connect with us, collaborate with us, and grow with us. Together, we can convert opportunity into measurable impact.
